In August 1971, the three companies Doorenbos, Veenstra and Wiersma bought a company in Zwolle and renamed it Transportonderneming Melkweg Zwolle. This new acquisition dealt with liquid dairy products and other liquids in tankers.
Our history between 1971-1980

Together with a number of other transport and shipping companies, the three family businesses founded Transportgroep Nederland (TGN) BV in 1973. With this, they had their own shipping office. The first years the company was located in Epe, later in Vaassen. The other owners eventually withdrew. Veenstra, Wiersma and Doorenbos remained. The cooperation was close even then. Their motto: if you can't share, you can't multiply.

Working together has been in the Fritom Group's DNA from the beginning. The companies presented themselves as Cooperating Transport Companies back in the 1970s.

In the late 1970s, a new office building with garage was built for Transport Company Melkweg BV in Bolsward. The building on the Koopman Heeresweg was festively opened in 1980 by Neelie (Smit-)Kroes, who at that time was State Secretary of Transport and Water Management. She said, "I think milk is awful" ... but she praised the cooperation and innovative ability of the cooperating transport companies.

In 1980 came its own insurance office: Westergo Assurantiën. Westergo was located in Bolsward. Companies belonging to the group and their employees could take out insurance there. In addition, Westergo had its own insurance portfolio.
