Join the Green Journey: Together towards a sustainable future

An important value of Fritom is having an eye for the future and taking into account future generations. We therefore have an ambitious goal: to operate completely CO2 neutral by 2050! This is a complex challenge that requires structured and phased changes within all our operating companies. That is why we are already working hard today on innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to a greener future.

Our roadmap to 2050 includes numerous initiatives. We have conducted several tests with electric trucks to investigate the feasibility and efficiency of emission-free transport (and our first electric truck is now a reality). We are committed to sustainable new construction projects that meet the strict BREEAM-NL standard. We also continue to innovate with advanced tools such as our CO2 calculator, which recently achieved ISO 14083 verification.

Cooperation is central to our approach. Within Fritom Group we share knowledge and experience so that all operating companies benefit from sustainable innovations. With this joint effort, we are taking steps towards an emission-free logistics sector. Join us and Join the Green Journey!

Join the Green Journey: The first electric truck is a reality

The first electric truck is a fact! Veenstra|Fritom, part of Fritom Group, had the scoop. In the past period there have been several pilots within Fritom Group in which the possibilities of an electric truck have been investigated: what is the charging time, is it all feasible in terms of planning and is there enough power available? Because buying an electric truck is not something you do lightly!

In this video, Wessel R. Veenstra, general manager of Veenstra|Fritom, explains how the insights from the pilots contributed to the investment of its own electric truck. There was also close cooperation with Volvo. The insights from our own operations department were ultimately the deciding factor. An important step in our sustainable roadmap towards 20205!

Join the Green Journey: Veenstra|Fritom from one to three Lean & Green Stars!

Recently, Veenstra|Fritom achieved the third Lean &Green Star. This means that they have made great strides towards zero emissions. As Fritom Group we are extremely proud of this! In this video Wietze de Vries, commercial manager at Veenstra|Fritom, tells about the goals they have set themselves in the field of sustainability and how they involve their customers in this process.

Data plays a crucial role in the fight against CO2 emissions. Dennis Nauta, Business Controller at Veenstra|Fritom and Rick Bergsma, jr. Business Controller at Veenstra|Fritom, know all about it. Accurate measurements and analyses reveal which measures are most effective. By optimizing the data, Dennis and Rick contributed to the development of the CO2 calculator.

Fritom supports more and more customers in their mission towards a greener world. In this video we talk about the special cooperation between Veenstra|Fritom and Ecorus Home. They praise the CO2 calculator developed within the Fritom Group. "This cooperation not only helps us minimize our own impact, but it also shows our customers that sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand."

Join The Green Journey: The E-Truck at all Fritom companies

The electric truck pilot continues to expand within Fritom Group. Although we are acting together in the energy transition, each Fritom company has its own identity, customer base and type of operations. As a result, the outcome of this pilot can vary greatly from one company to another. Also at Oldenburger|Fritom they are testing whether they can fit this truck into their daily activities. This takes into account a number of different scenarios. Rene Dale (CEO), Gerrit Hulst (Transport Manager) and Cor Klontje (Driver) talk about their vision and expectations in this video.

Join The Green Journey: Our carbon calculator achieves ISO verification

At the end of 2023, we received very positive news about the CO2 calculator we developed. As one of the first Logistics Service Providers in the Netherlands, we achieved ISO 14083 verification with this calculator. This standard is the new international standard for mapping the carbon footprint in the logistics sector. With this we demonstrate that our product delivers the high quality one would expect from the Fritom Group. Wessel Veenstra, General Director at Veenstra|Fritom and Chairman Foundation Board Fritom, was very involved in the development of this software model. In this video he tells more about the CO2 calculator and ISO verification.

Join The Green Journey: A strong partnership

All companies within the Fritom Group are acting together in the energy transition based on the roadmap 2050. For example, they are all part of a special working group to share information and look together for logistics solutions within the theme of sustainability. In this working group, Sanders|Fritom took note of the successful pilot with Volvo's electric truck that Melkweg|Fritom conducted earlier. They were curious whether this e-truck would also be an interesting addition to their own fleet. KAM coordinator Saskia Wiersma and Transport Manager Ruud Kleine Punte are involved in these developments in their own way and both have their own views on the deployment of this truck.

Join The Green Journey: sustainable new building for Sanders|Fritom

Making our organization more sustainable goes beyond just greening our fleet of vehicles to enable emission-free driving. We also take our sustainability goals into account during the development of new construction projects. A good example of this is the new Sanders|Fritom site in Uden. As soon as the initial plans were drawn up, we set ourselves the goal of meeting the BREEAM-NL Excellent standard. This certification method looks not only at energy consumption but also, for example, at the health of employees, the immediate living environment and transport to and from the building. This method provides insight into the actual sustainability performance of the building and ensures future-proof business locations. In this video Tom Wiersma, business advisor at Sanders|Fritom and Floris de Groot, construction planner at Van der Heijden tell more about BREAAM-NL Excellent and about the realization of this building.

Join The Green Journey: electric truck pilot

An important part of the roadmap 2050, is to realize a CO2 neutral fleet. For this reason, Melkweg|Fritom has taken the first electric truck into use in cooperation with Volvo. In our mission to be able to operate CO2-neutral in the future, we find it important to make only well-considered choices. That is why we started this pilot. This will allow us to investigate whether our operating companies can already carry out their trips completely electrically. During this pilot we are collecting valuable data that can answer the question of whether these types of trucks are profitable enough in practice. We will share these insights within the Fritom Group in order to jointly move towards the energy transition.

Join The Green Journey: Fritom Group examines steps toward energy transition

As an umbrella organization with several operating companies within the logistics sector, we aim to operate completely carbon neutral by 2050. This requires adjustments that can only be implemented in a structured and phased manner. The Fritom Group is therefore already actively working to achieve this long-term goal. As an expert in this field, Hermke Meijerink guides the process and supports Fritom on its way to energy transition. In this video Hermke introduces herself and explains her role within Fritom's energy transition process.
