How it began in 1971

Three family businesses engaged in transport and livestock activities: Doorenbos Internationaal transportbedrijf and Wiersma's Internationaal Transport in Bolsward and the Firma W Veenstra en Zn in Heeg, founded Transportonderneming Melkweg NV. In fact, these three pedigree entrepreneurs saw an opportunity in the market: RMO transport. The transport of milk from cattle farmer to dairy factory by tank truck. Until then, this transport was still mostly done in milk cans by car and ship. However, the family businesses saw that this was about to change. They saw potential in the emerging new form of milk transport. Melkweg NV became a pioneer in the field of mobile milk collection. And it became a success.
